Konrad Ost appointed new Vice President of the Bundeskartellamt

Change of Vice President at the Bundeskartellamt – Prof Dr Konrad Ost succeeds Dr Peter Klocker.
Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt, has bid farewell to the long-serving Vice President of the authority, Dr Peter Klocker, who retired on 1st September, and thanked him for his services to the Bundeskartellamt and in the protection of competition in Germany. Dr Klocker, born in 1950, is a lawyer who, after serving in various posts in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, joined the Bundeskartellamt in 2000. His first position in the authority was Head of the General Policy Division. Dr Klocker has been Vice President of the authority since 2005.
The new Vice President is Prof Dr Konrad Ost. The 44 year old lawyer studied at the universities of Münster, Heidelberg, Singapore and Cambridge and was awarded a doctorate in Heidelberg. In 2000 Konrad Ost joined the Bundeskartellamt, first as Case Officer in the 4th Decision Division (Mechanical Engineering, Medical Technology). He went on to head the section "Harmonisation of Competition Law Enforcement/Public Procurement" within the General Policy Division. He later became head of the section "German and European Antritrust Law" and then head of the Litigation and Legal Section. Since 2010 Konrad Ost has headed the General Policy Division. He teaches competition law at the University of Bonn as Honorary Professor.
