Construction companies in Berlin-Brandenburg searched
24.03.2004
On 24 March 2004 the Bundeskartellamt, together with the Neuruppin Public Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal investigation offices of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg, the German Border Police and the Special Operations Unit in Brandenburg searched the offices of construction companies in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. The Bundeskartellamt confirms this in response to enquires in this regard.
In proceedings conducted by the Neuruppin Public Prosecutor’s Office several companies are being investigated on suspicion of anticompetitive price agreements in tenders as well as bribery and corruption in their business transactions dating back to 1997 in connection with construction projects in Berlin (including the old Berlin-Schönefeld Airport). There is a substantiated suspicion of submission agreements operated by a clandestine bidding syndicate in connection with a whole range of demolition and construction projects. The Neuruppin Public Prosecutor’s Office has obtained search warrants and the relevant attachment orders for the conservation of evidence in the case of a total of 69 objects.
The Bundeskartellamt was involved in the search of 16 objects on account of its own administrative offence proceedings.
