Suspicions of cartel agreement between industrial insurers substantiated

In response to enquiries the Bundeskartellamt confirms that on 21 July 2003, in a first step, written charges were served on seven leading industrial insurers on suspicion of agreements in the industrial insurance business.
The companies shall have an opportunity to comment.
The companies involved are:
Allianz Versicherung AG, Munich,
AXA Versicherung AG, Cologne,
Aachener und Münchener Versicherung AG, Aachen,
Gothaer Allgemeine Versicherung AG, Cologne,
Victoria Versicherung AG, Düsseldorf,
Gerling Allgemeine Versicherung AG, Cologne and
HDI Haftpflichtverband der Deutschen Industrie Versicherungsverein auf Gegenseitigkeit, Hanover.
On 24 July 2002 the Bundeskartellamt had searched insurance companies at 13 sites. The evaluation of available evidence has confirmed the suspicion of cartel agreements or concerted practices.
