International Cooperation

In 1958, when the Bundeskartellamt was established, the competition law landscape from the perspective of the Bundeskartellamt was clearly structured. Apart from the European competition law regime, the scene was very much shaped by US American antitrust law. Since then the international landscape has undergone immense development and the number of competition law regimes worldwide has risen to around a hundred.

This makes cooperation between the competition authorities beyond national frontiers all the more important.


In addition to the Bundeskartellamt’s bilateral cooperation with competition authorities in other countries, great importance is placed on multilateral cooperation in international fora.
